SNP+ Research Symposium 2027 – Save The Date!
The next “SNP+ Research Symposium” will take place on 17-18 June 2027 in Zernez, Switzerland. Save The Date to join the insights and discussions on the topic of „Biodiversity Beyond Borders“! The conference is organized by the Research Commission, the Swiss National Park, the UNESCO Biosfera Engiadina Val Müstair and the Regional Nature Park Biosfera Val Müstair, in collaboration with the Interreg project MAP-Rezia.

Swiss glaciers have exhausted their snow reserves
From 29 June onwards, Switzerland’s glaciers will have exhausted their snow reserves. Every litre of meltwater now causes them to lose mass – this is Glacier Loss Day. Between the extreme years of 2003 and 2022 alone, 200 square kilometres of ice – an area almost as large as the canton of Zug – have disappeared. This is reflected in the volume of meltwater, as analyses show: although ice loss was more severe in the summer of 2022 than in 2003, less water flowed off the glaciers.

Le paysage est un espace de rencontre dans lequel des intérêts, des valeurs et des disciplines très variés se mêlent. Comment la didactique du paysage peut-elle gérer cette complexité ? Quelles sont les connaissances que les professeur·e·s sont en mesure de transmettre à leurs étudiant·e·s ? Quels formats pédagogiques s'avèrent utiles ? C'est à ces questions que les professeur·e·s de la discipline ont cherché à répondre lors de leur rencontre du 23 mars 2026.

Mountain Commons at SGM 2026 – Call for Abstracts
Mountain regions are facing many challenges related to their environmental and sociopolitical contexts – from reduced agricultural production to natural hazards or difficulty of access. Collective action and commons are ways to cope with these challenges. The Interdisciplinary Centre for Mountain Research (CIRM), the Mountain Research Initiative (MRI) and the Forum Landscape, Alps, Parks (FoLAP) are organising a session on this topic at the 24th Swiss Geoscience Meeting (SGM) on 20 and 21 November 2026 in Fribourg. They invite scientists from geosciences and other disciplines to an interdisciplinary exchange around the mountain commons and their multiple characteristics and management challenges in the 21st century.

ForumAlpinum 2026 - Registration is open
The progressive retreat of glaciers, accelerated by climate change, is profoundly modifying the landscape, water resources, biodiversity and traditional activities of mountain communities. The ForumAlpinum 2026, organised by ISCAR (International Scientific Committee on Reseach in the Alps) in the last week of May 2026 in Aosta valley, will reflect on the consequences of deglaciation in Alpine regions (and beyond), with particular attention to environmental challenges, socio-economic transformations and adaptation strategies. The registration is now open!

Le congrès se tiendra les 3 et 4 septembre 2026 à Davos, en collaboration avec l'Institut fédéral de recherches WSL. Toutes les personnes intéressées sont invitées à participer au dialogue sur le paysage. Au menu de cette 5ème édition : les paysages comme lieux de rencontre, reliant les personnes et les espaces et reflétant les évolutions sociétales.
