30 Years of ForumAlpinum
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the ForumAlpinum conference series, the Forum Landscape, Alps, Parcs (FoLAP) invited the International Scientific Committee on Research in the Alps (ISCAR) to present the history and impact of this Alpine-wide conference in a MountainPlatform article in the journal Mountain Research and Development (MRD).

Nachruf auf Hans Weiss, Landschaftsschützer der ersten Stunde
Hans Weiss war ein Landschaftsschützer der ersten Stunde. Als 1968 die Studentenbewegung die Welt erschütterte, ging er als Beauftragter für Landschaftsschutz zum Kanton Graubünden. Bereits zwei Jahre später wurde er Geschäftsleiter der damals neugegründeten Stiftung Landschaftsschutz Schweiz (SL), der er über zwanzig Jahre lang treu blieb. Dies blieb nicht ohne nachhaltige Wirkung für einige der schönsten Landschaften unseres Landes. In jenen Jahren entstanden auch Weiss' vielbeachtete Bücher «Die friedliche Zerstörung der Landschaft und Ansätze zu ihrer Rettung in der Schweiz» und «Die unteilbare Landschaft – für ein erweitertes Umweltbewusstsein». 1991 übernahm Hans Weiss die operative Leitung des Fonds Landschaft Schweiz (FLS), an dessen Gründung er massgeblich beteiligt gewesen war.
MAB-Call Österreich
Das 1971 gegründete UNESCO Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programm umfasst derzeit ein globales Netzwerk von 759 Biosphärenreservaten in 136 Ländern, welche als „lebende Laboratorien“ fungieren, um eine nachhaltige Transformation im gesunden Gleichgewicht zwischen dem Schutz der Natur und deren Nutzung zu erproben. Das MAB-Nationalkomitee Österreich an der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften ÖAW hat vor Kurzem einen neuen Call für Forschungsprojekte lanciert.

The Swiss Geomorphological Society, via its president Christophe Lambiel, had the honour of welcoming Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand for a geomorphological visit on 18 February 2025. The Princess, who is the sister of the King of Thailand, has been a close friend of Switzerland since childhood. A keen geomorphologist, she wanted to take a geomorphological tour of a site in Switzerland. Given the time of year and in order to optimize logistical arrangements, the proposal was made to visit the Lavaux vineyards on the shores of Lake Geneva, a cultural geomorphosite listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007.

New governance strengthens the Sustainability Science Forum
The Sustainability Science Forum is entering a new phase: with an expanded governance structure, the congress is being put on a broader basis. It is intended to become a meeting place and discussion forum for science and practice for the sustainable shaping of the future. The next edition is planned for November 2025.
Projet Vallée Archipel
Dans la vallée du Rhône valaisanne, le projet „ Vallée Archipel “ donne une voix au territoire et pose une graine pour un débat public sur la vallée du Rhône. En 2024, des explorations humaines ont été menés par des entretiens d’un large public. Les enregistrements ont donné lieu à deux capsules vidéo et une capsule sonore. Parmi d'autres événements en 2025, les capsules vont être présentées dans le cadre du festival « écrans urbains » à Lausanne fin février. Le projet a été soutenu par la promotion de projets du FoLAP en 2024.
